Robert Kuok: TV dialogue

Robert Kuok is one of the richest ethnic Chinese businessman from South East Asia. He grew up in Malaysia. He is describes as ‘Sugar King’ as he dominates the  Asian sugar trade. He also established the Shangilla hotel group, which is one of the most succesful hotel organisation from Asia. He is a legend among  businessmen. However, little is known about him as he remains reclusive, and stayed away from the limelights and media.

The following  TV programme that appeared in CCTV2 (in Chinese) earlier this months  provides lots of insight about this remarkable businessman. He revealed that he is heavily influenced by his late mother and was taught from young not to forget his root. That was the reason for his strong command of Chinese. There are lots of interesting details about his business philosophy, on his works and contribution to China, how Shangrilla hotels got their name etc.
