Pingxiang and Youyiguan – border town in Guangxi

凭样 (Pingxiang) is the border town that serves as the main gateway to Vietnam from China and vice-versa.

It is the more accesible border town given that it is connected to an expressway from Nanning (capital of Guangxi) and there is a railway link that goes to Hanoi from Nanning. Close to Pingxang town is Youyiguan, or Friendship Pass in English. It used to be a fort that was the scene of a small battle between China and France in 1885, that resulted in victory on the Chinese side. It’s old name was Zhengnan Fort. The tower structure is now a symbol of the gateway for entry into Vietnam. Business is really booming in this town, as revealed by following documentary:
