天路

The Road to Heaven (Tian Lu)

A rather recent song that is dedicated to the railway line being built in Xi Zang.

There are several singers who popularise this Tibetan style song.  They are all ethnic Tibetans who mave made their marks in todays’s China.

  • Han Hong  韩红
  • Alan Dawa Dolma阿兰
  • BaSang巴桑
  • Soinam 索朗旺姆 Suo3 Lang3 Wang4 Mu3
As this song rather popular, people are debating as to which version is the best.   According to my friend Ken Y, the version sang by Basang is the best. There is also debates amongst the Youtube viewers.

I have to say, all of them are good singers, and everyone of them is unique and special in her own way. It’s really a matter of preferences. Some may prefer the more beautiful singer, while other prefer melodious voices, wonderful singing ability etc. We’ll my favourite is Soinam. And I’m not truly sure why. Maybe it’s here voice … or face .. or both …

A Lan and Han Hong :  Both are wonderful singers. Han Hong has that wonderful silky smooth melodious voice. While she does not have the ‘star’ look, she is a popular singer and a household name in China.  She is a military officer, just like her parents . A Lan is the taller and beautiful girl, but the military attire seems ill-fitted for her in this video.
