So, Templeton, Lord Coe called the Chinese runners, instead of the violent protestors who threatened them, "thugs", and the crowd cheers, and you join in the drunken rightousness.

Everytime you see a guy with the title "Lord" laying verbal assault on the Chinese, you have to shake your head at history’s irony.

Imagine the Chinese invaded France. They moved into Paris and sacked the Louvre, taking whatever they could out into the streets and auctioned them off for small gains, then burned what they couldn’t move along with the entire complex of buildings.

Hard to imagine that kind of thing happening? Well it did, that’s the history of Yuan Ming Yuan, the Qing summer palace where the country’s top treasures were kept.
What kind of thug would do a thing like that? Only a Lord would do that, of course, Lord Elgin, and his French counterpart.
